to you my little one

It’s been a year since I entered your life, and for that I am so grateful. A year in which you changed everything for me and around me. A year in which you were the greatest teacher to me. I’ve learned and grew a lot together with you.

It is so funny. Before meeting you, I always thought that I will have to teach you, to show you what life means, but as a matter of fact, you knew what you had to do already. This was maybe the biggest surprise you reserved for me. You provided me with many lessons, lessons which I hope to remember for the rest of my life. Most importantly I’ve got to experience what real stewardship means.

I’ve learned about patience, and how to understand that each one of us has limitations at times. This helped us both to get easily through the difficult times.

I’ve learned that development can happen only naturally, you don’t need to force it or interfere with it. And how beautifully you developed yourself. The best part? I didn’t need to teach you anything. I love that you discover this world on your own, I want you to be as free as possible.

I’ve learned that each day in which we do not laugh it is a lost day. You never accepted me getting swept away by the daily grinds. Laughing is perhaps the best cure of every problem in the world.

I’ve learned that simple things can be extraordinary as well, you sprinkled creativity in the most mundane activities. You showed me that you do not need much, as long as the 3 of us are together.

I’ve learned that I need to understand myself first, and the deficiencies with which I was brought up. This was and still is, one of the hardest lessons I’ve got to experience until now. But I know that you should definitely not get to live my way.

I’ve learned how beautiful is your purity and honesty. You always provided me with the most candid feedback, never tried to sugarcoat how you felt about things. This taught me that sometimes it is not on me, but rather to consider that each one of us is fighting with our own daily challenges. We adults seem to have forgotten this essential aspect of our lives.

I’ve learned what unconditional love means. You showed me joy and happiness, with nothing expected in return.

So, here you are my little one, living in our present. For me, it is still unbelievable and amazing. I couldn’t be more happier that I got the chance to get to know you, and that I am part of your unique journey.
